Sunset House

Sunset House, a modern hideaway nestled in the beachside neighbourhood of Venice, LA. This uniquely designed, modern and minimalist space by Australian architects, Tribe Studio, is spacious with large glass cavity sliding doors at every turn, opening up and bringing the outdoors in, embracing dreamy Californian light. The design of the space, has particular nuances of natural light, air flow, design proportions and quality materials that Australian architecture and design is known for. Quality over quantity and less is most definitely more in this location. The lower level has a generous scale, with free-flowing kitchen, dining area and living room that spills out onto the pool and garden. It is a confident space, designed to be full of people and food, but can equally be a tranquil sanctuary. The rambling yet curated garden and several outdoor spaces, featuring a cactus garden, outdoors decks and a large ficus tree with swings and ladders, creating a playful space for children. The silvery and purple tones of the garden and Californian grasses compliment and sink into the black depth of the exterior of the house and the deep blue of the pool. The upper level is more like a quiet white modern sanctuary with a long spin like corridor, exposed ceiling beams, which peels off into modern and minimalist bedrooms and bathrooms, along with a large open plan studio. The main bedroom and creative studio spaces, flooded with natural light with their tall pitched ceilings, open onto private bluestone paved decks with outdoor furniture and succulent planters. This location has a myriad of open spaces and is COVID friendly with the majority of the house being able to open up to become an indoor/outdoor space.
